Materials: Whiteboard, markers, dice or rock-paper-scissors cards
1. Use the rows and columns of a Tic-Tac-Toe grid as two sets of substitutions for the target pattern.
2. Example: for “How do you go to [place]?” / “I go there by [transport],” put places on one axis and transportation on the other.
3. Two students compete with rock-paper-scissors or dice. The loser chooses an item from one axis and asks the question; the winner chooses from the other axis and answers in a full sentence.
4. After a correct exchange, the winner places O or X in the matching intersection.
5. Continue until someone completes the winning pattern.
🌟 Life-size version: tape a large grid on the floor and place the row/column cards around it.
