Materials: Teacher-made Spot It cards
1. Give each student one card containing several learned letters or words.
2. Students walk around and compare their card with a partner’s. Every pair of cards has one matching item.
3. Letter version: find the matching letter and say its SOUND, not just the letter name. Word version: find the matching word and blend/read it correctly.
4. After a successful match, thank the partner and find someone new. Count successful matches when time is up.
🌟 Start with a small set of known sounds, then gradually add more. The same format can grow from sound recognition to blending.
